At Jackson's, auctioneer in Iowa, you can buy on 16 June 2015 a "Dutch Old Master, Dutch School, 17th century" estimated at $3,000 to $4,000.
It is a rather dark copy of Jan Steen, "The Drunken Couple", from the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam. While not bad a far as such old copies go, it is much more crudely painted than the original, and while the dark state it is in may attract people hoping to find a much better painting once it is cleared, it will also detract people who just want to hang it on the wall. The estimate seems too high for such a copy. UPDATE: indeed, sold for $1,800 instead.
