Naval battle by Musin
At Daguerre, they sell a "Musin, Belgian School of the 19th century" marine, 50 by 80 cm and estimated at 400 to 600 Euro only.
It looks like the work of François Etienne Musin, and should be worth at least 5 times as much if so. UPDATE: sold for 2,800 Euro, or about five times the estimate! It is a companion piece to or variation on the above, which is in a private collection. The sea is painted a bit more simplistic though in the one for sale, as if the original buyers choose the "slightly rushed" version over the "completely finished" one. There are many old fake Musins, but this one, though not as good as his best works, seems to have a fairly good chance of being a real Musin, in which case it would make a very good buy.
