"Attr. Willem van Nieulandt" is a copy after a Lucas Van Leyden engraving

Baratoux-Dubourg, from Bordeaux, sells on 21 October 2015 an "Attributed to Willem van Nieulandt (1584 -1635)" Ecce Homo, an oil on panel of 50 by 65 cm, estimated at 3,000 to 5,000 Euro.

It is a faithful copy after a famous engraving by Lucas Van Leyden, the so-called "Large Ecce Homo" from 1510 (example from the Rijksmuseum pictured).

The RKD lists one other copy after this work, from the first half of the 16th century, without any guess at who might have painted it.

Whether the work for sale has anything to do with Nieulandt II seems hard to discern. As an anonymous work, it should have trouble fetching the lower estimate.

"15th century Old Master" engraving is a 1518 Lucas Van Leyden work

Arthaz, a New York auction house, sells on 16 June 2015 a "15th Century Old Master" engraving of a "Royal Ceremony", estimated quite widely at $500 to $2,000.

It is a well-known 1518 (so not 15th century) engraving by Lucas Van Leyden, showing Esther before Ahasverus. It is known in three states, no idea which state this is but the engraving looks crisp and detailed (the paper has some damage and issues though). You could have bought a somewhat damaged copy at Christie's in 2009 for £1,000, although another very fine copy (pictured) fetched nearly $9,000 at Gallerie Bassenge in Berlin the same year. I guess this one will not exceed the $1,000.
