After Correggio, Venus and Satyr

At Galerie Moderne, they sell "The Sleep of Antigone", estimated at 200 to 300 Euro. UPDATE: sold for 220 Euro.

A good composition, and little information from the auction house, so that's always a good candidate to search a little further. In this case, it is not a "sleep of Antigone" but a "Venus, Cupid and Satyr", originally by Correggio, now in the Louvre. Could this be a lost study for it? Don't count on it, it looks more like a swift copy to get the basic composition and colours right. Done by a skilled hand like here, this creates a very attractive and modern look, contrasting with the less fluid original.
